Holiness and the will of God
St. Joseph Allamano put the divine will at the centre of his life and his spiritual proposal. He considered it the sure way to holiness and missionary fruitfulness. In fact, he said: “My greatest consolation is that I have always done God’s will”.
On this journey we are guided by the example of Jesus, who lived totally oriented to the Father. Allamano expresses it thus: “Not mine, but your will be done… his will ceased and only God’s will remained.”
Therefore, accepting the Lord’s will means letting ourselves be transformed by a love that often works in silence, but always for our good and our mission. It is in this trust that we find peace, spiritual maturity and abundant fruits for personal and community life.
Invocations
You who know the times and ways of our growth, help us not to fear the “pruning” that purifies and renews,
- and give us a heart that knows how to trust, sure that every wound welcomed with love will bear more abundant fruit.
You who unite our will to yours so that we may bear fruits of holiness,
- remain in us and let us also remain in You, freeing ourselves from every selfish will, fears and resistances that prevent Your lymph from flowing through us.
You who work in silence and bring all things to fulfilment according to Your love,
- teach us to seek Your will in everything, so that, like Allamano, we can truly say that we have desired nothing, but what You want.
Let us pray:
Lord, through the intercession of St. Joseph Allamano,
who made your will his joy and the sure way to mission,
transform our fears into courage,
our hesitations into abandonment
and our efforts into fruitful offerings.
Remain in us, Jesus,
and grant that we too may remain in You,
so that, united like branches to the vine,
we may bear much fruit for the glory of the Father
and for the good of all the brothers and sisters
You place on our path. Amen.
