Consolata Missionary, Rosa was born in Rezzanello di Gazzola (Italy) on December 9, 1940 in a peasant family who moved to Sesto San Giovanni in 1950.
In 1963 she entered the Institute of the Consolata Missionary Sisters and received the name Leonella. After her first profession, she studied nursing in England and was then assigned to the mission in Kenya.
Sister Leonella worked in hospitals and dedicated herself to training young nurses. From 1993 to 1999 she served the Sisters of Kenya as Regional Superior, then in 2000 she opened a nursing school in Mogadishu, with the hope of giving a future to the young people of this tormented land.
In 2006 the first group received their diploma. On September 17, while leaving the hospital where she worked, she was hit by a barrage of bullets. He died in Mogadishu and his body was transported to Kenya, where she now rests.

Sister Leonella is the Regional Superior of Kenya for six years, demonstrating great leadership qualities and love for the religious family.
The nursing school
Since 2000, she has founded and directed a nursing school in Mogadishu, in collaboration with the NGO SOS.
She dies in hatred of the faith
Leaving the hospital where she worked, Sister Leonella was killed by gunshots. The Church recognizes the martyrdom in hatred of the faith.
