Eighth day: Consolation is welcome
“While they were in Bethlehem, Mary gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger” (Luke 2:6)
Everyone was waiting for a powerful Messiah, but Jesus was born in poverty. Today, if we want to take on Jesus’ choices, we too are called to open ourselves to welcoming the poor. May Mary’s faith make us women and men of welcome, capable of recognizing the face of Jesus in those we meet.
Litany:
Our Lady, pray for us
Mother of humanity, pray for us
Mother of the Redeemer, pray for us
LET US PRAY
Oh Lord Jesus Christ,
by whose inscrutable providence
every gift is conveyed to us through your mother Mary,
graciously grant that honouring her
under beloved name of Comforter,
we may enjoy her help and protection.
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen
